As I have not so tight schedules in the last three days
in England I am now commanding "Hitori Men-Road" in
London little by little in order to make me excited
for forthcoming MEN-ROAD VI.
Let me explain the shabby results so far.
TARO @ Brewer Street near Picadilly Circus
MISO RAMEN 」 5.50 = 1100 YEN
Kind of all-round cheap shoku-do like Japanese
restaurant which serves Ramen Sushi Donburi-mono
all together (We can see this sort of restaurants
so many in London nowadays)
There were some choices for Ramen dishes but as far as
MISO RAMEN was concerned it was nothing other than
"GERE-SHOKU" we usually met at ski resorts.
Eatable but far from real satisfaction.
And I could not understand why lines of carrots are topped
on the Ramen.
ZIPANGU @ New Port Place near Leicester Square
HAKATA RAMEN 」 4.50 = 900 YEN
This restaurant is located in the edge of China Town
in London next to very famous Japanese cuisine called
TOKYO DINER and serves all-round Japanese as well.
The Ramen-bowl's looking was not so bad (especially
well-roasted two slices of Cha-syu on the top).
However...the soup was terrible.
Actually I froze myself when I firstly put the Renge
into my mouth.
I could not feel any Tonkotsu Dashi's wild flavour and gelly
smooth touch at all. Never.
Salt was also crucially too short.
And what you could find in that terrible soup was a kind
of "Nobikitta Chijire-men" far from Hakata's strait
tough style.
It might be even worse than "Kyu-syu Fu Ramen" in "DOSANKO"
@ Shin-Kiba...
Kai-tete Kanashiku Natte-kita...(>_<)
Is there someone who knows Ramen in London which is a bit
more than eatable?
This is the fourth day in Birmingham and I will depart here this night.
I joined the students' meeting for resisting the "not democratic"
decision of the clossure of Cultural Studies Department.
I discussed both with the local students and the international
students mainly my ex-class mates from Korea Taiwan and Tunisia
and it was quite easy to share the recognition of what was going
on around the academic world and elsewhere in UK and Japan.
It's absolutely totally same.
Hatoyama's (probably I must add the word "ex"?) Democrats in Japan
are nothing other than "New Labour" in this country.
Anyway I will write down essay concerning this topic after
coming back to Japan.
It would be suitable for "Co-responding" which I have left so long.
This is the second day in England.
There is no schedule before evening today so I am enjoyning
to stroll around central London with my wife.
Though I was very sad to find that I could not feel any
excitement to see the scenary of suburb of London when
I stepped out from Heathrow Airport I am becoming to
be filled up with Nostargia now.
However it's nothing other than "to visit Shibuya or Roppongi
after two years absense" as the atmosphere of London is
quite alike to that of Tokyo.
As I might say before everytime I feel the difference between
the atmospheres of London and Tokyo is much less than that
between London and Paris.
I do not know why exactly but I speculate that it is derived
from the similarities of the Two Metropolis(London and Tokyo)'s
location in present World System.
(Both London and Tokyo is located in the periphery of the
civilization --European Civilization and Chinese Civilization--
but at the same time they have economic or financial center
of that region.)
